  2.        OS/2 1.3 and 2.x driver for Mannesmann Tally Dot Matrix Printers
  3.        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  5.     If you are installing this driver as an upgrade for an older version,
  6.     or if this is a completely new installation, you should first read
  7.     the installation notes in INSTALL.TXT.

  9.     This file contains the following:
  10.         1. Printer setup notes

  14. 1. Setting up your Dot Matrix for use with the driver
  15. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  16.     For full details on setting up your printer, consult your user's
  17.     manual.

  19.     a. Set the Physical Top Margin (Phys.adj) to 0/72 inch on the printer
  20.        control panel. See "Positioning the first print line (Phys.adj)", 
  21.        Operator's Manual, chapter 4, for an explanation of this setting.

  23.     b. When using the MT 83 and 84 you must select the appropriate paper
  24.        source on the printer control panel, before starting a print job.
  25.  
  26.        The other models require you to first select the sheet feeder on the 
  27.        printer control panel before trying  to print on paper from a sheet 
  28.        feeder paper source.

  32. 2. Known problems with applications
  33. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  35.     There are certain applications, or versions of applications,
  36.     which do not work correctly with this driver. The known problems
  37.     are described below:
  38.  
  39.     8514 display driver running under OS/2 2.0
  40.     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  41.     PROBLEM:
  42.         When printing in colour, using this display driver causes colours
  43.     for graphical printing (but not device text) to be incorrectly printed.

  45.     SOLUTION:
  46.         Obtain the latest version of OS/2 2.x from IBM. This contains a
  47.     32-bit engine and also contains changes to the handling of display drivers
  48.     which will fix this problem.

  51.     PMCHART Version 1.0 and Word for PM running under OS/2 2.0
  52.     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  53.     PROBLEM:
  54.         These applications will not work correctly with ANY printer drivers
  55.     if you install two different printers BOTH on the same printer port
  56.     (for example Mannesmann Tally MT 150/24 and LaserJet III both on LPT1).

  58.     Both applications fail to identify the correct printer models in
  59.     this circumstance (Printer Setup will show the default printer model
  60.     for the driver) and may cause the driver to crash.
  61.  
  62.     SOLUTION:
  63.         Do not install multiple printers on a single printer port when
  64.     using these applications. If you are regularly swapping the printers
  65.     attached to a port, swap the correctly unconnected printer to FILE
  66.     whilst running either of these applications.

  69.     Microsoft Excel for OS/2 Version 2.2
  70.     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  71.     PROBLEM:
  72.         The default cell size is too small in spreadsheets and ATM fonts will
  73.     be printed too small. (Device fonts will print correctly)
  74.  
  75.     SOLUTIONS:
  76.         1) This problem has been fixed in Excel 2.21 (and also Excel 3.0).
  77.            Upgrading to either of these versions will eliminate the problem.

  79.         2) Setting the Standard Font for Excel to be a device font
  80.            (using the full Options menu) will give a correct cell size.
